How does XILINK make money if it adds no markup to the goods?

You pay the factory invoice and we add nothing to it — no markup on your goods and no commission charged to you. We are funded by China's export VAT rebate of 9 to 13 percent, which the Chinese government refunds to the exporter of record when the goods ship. It is a government refund, not a kickback, rebate or commission paid by any factory. Because no factory pays us, we have no financial reason to steer you toward one supplier over another. For comparison, most sourcing agents charge a 5 to 10 percent commission, and a hidden markup of 13 to 25 percent buried in the unit price is common in this trade.

What size orders does XILINK handle?

Most batches run 5,000 to 50,000 US dollars, and single orders up to 200,000 US dollars are routine. There is no order too big. There are only orders too small to be worth an agent, and we say so when that is the case. A typical job is one where the goods have to come from several different factories and arrive as a single shipment.

What does XILINK actually source from China?

Machinery and heavy equipment, spare parts by part number, industrial and water-treatment chemicals, geosynthetics, farm and livestock equipment, industrial materials and infrastructure supplies, and parts for Chinese electric-vehicle brands. Each category has its own vetted factory list, its own inspection checklist and its own export paperwork. If you can send a part number or a spec sheet, we can find who actually makes it.

When do I NOT need a sourcing agent like XILINK?

When the order is a straight re-order of a standard part from a supplier you already trust, or an off-the-shelf low-risk item from a single factory where a bad batch would not really hurt you. In those cases go direct and keep the margin. An order is worth an agent when the supplier is new and you have never seen the factory, when it has to be pulled from several factories and consolidated, when a bad batch would really hurt, or when you are not in China and cannot fly over in time.

What languages can XILINK work in?

Quotes, contracts and factory negotiations are handled in the buyer's own language. We have run orders entirely in English, Russian and French, and we work in Chinese with the factories. Export documents are prepared to your own country's requirements so the cargo clears customs the first time.

How is XILINK different from a trading company?

A trading company hides the factory and marks up the goods; you rarely learn who actually made your product. We work for the buyer, not the factory: we show you the real producer, you see the real factory invoice, and payments are released against inspections rather than as a lump sum up front. We physically visit the plant and inspect the production line that is actually building your order.
