What A Cheap Quote Leaves Out
Every geocell quote names a cell height and a polymer. Almost none name the three properties that decide what happens after the infill goes in: wall thickness — the strip that takes the hoop stress when a cell fills; resin density — virgin HDPE holds its shape and its carbon black, regrind doesn't; and seam strength — the ultrasonic weld between strips, the joint that fails first when a panel hangs from a slope crest.
Here's the trap: a cheap panel is quoted by the square metre with a "nominal" wall that is already at the −10 % allowance before it leaves the mill, and welds nobody has pulled. On the pallet it looks identical to the real thing. On a slope with wet gravel in it, it isn't.
We quote the standard by name — GB/T 19274-2003 or GRI-GS15 — the mill certifies every batch on wall thickness, tensile yield and weld strength, and we pull-test the seam ourselves before loading. A mill that can't produce the weld numbers has answered the question.

Density ≥ 0.940 g/cc, carbon black 2 – 3 %. Thinner or lighter is a different product wearing the same name — it buckles under the compactor and chalks in the sun.
The weld must be as strong as the strip; GB/T 19274 separately asks ≥ 100 N/cm on the weld itself. This is the number we pull on your batch.
The joint that carries a panel's own weight when it hangs from a crest anchor — pulled at both positions, because the edge and the centre fail differently.

Cell To Structure
Geocell is one product doing four jobs, and each job loads the cell differently. Match the structure first; cell geometry follows from it, and the model number comes last.

Two tables, two standards. GB/T 19274-2003 is what the Chinese mill's factory certificate is issued against, for PP and PE geocell — it tests the finished sheet (strip, weld, cell-to-cell connection) and the resin behind it (stress cracking, low-temperature brittleness, softening point, antioxidant reserve). GRI-GS15 is the Geosynthetic Institute's specification for HDPE-strip geocell — the sheet North American and Middle-East engineers ask for — with S.I. and US units side by side.
Cell height, weld spacing and wall thickness are made to order — the mill lists no fixed series, so we quote against your drawing. If your tender specifies one standard, say which; every quote names it, and every order ships with the mill's batch certificate against it.

Before It Ships
The mill's batch certificate covers wall thickness, tensile yield and weld strength against GB/T 19274-2003 or GRI-GS15 — whichever your order names. Then our pre-shipment inspection measures the panel itself: cell height, weld spacing and wall thickness against your drawing, the perforation pattern present and clean, and the pallet count — all photographed.
The seam is the one test we never leave to the certificate: weld strength is pulled on your batch. When a tender needs an independent sheet, we arrange a third-party lab test (Intertek / SGS) on the same batch.
Lab sheets and inspection photos reach you before the balance payment — leverage, then payment, in that order.

Most tenders outside China specify HDPE, because GRI-GS15 — the specification engineers reference — is written for HDPE strip. Under GB/T 19274-2003 the two resins are tested differently: PE must survive 800 h of environmental stress cracking and stay ductile to −50 °C; PP has the higher softening point (≥ 142 °C) and no ESC requirement. Tell us which standard your drawing names and we quote that resin against it.
That the ultrasonic weld between two strips is as strong as the strip itself — the joint doesn't become the weak point. GRI-GS15 sets it at 100 % under GRI-GS13; GB/T 19274 separately requires ≥ 100 N/cm on the weld. It's the value we pull-test on your batch, because a panel that fails does so at the seam, not in the middle of a strip.
Perforated for slopes, subgrades and car parks: the holes drain the cell, let roots grow through, and give the infill something to grip. Solid where you want the cell to hold what's in it — concrete-filled channel linings, for instance — though many channel designs still use perforated wall by choice. The perforation pattern is on our inspection sheet either way.
Cell height, weld spacing and wall thickness are made to order — the mill's sheet lists no fixed series. Send the cross-section or the spec line from your tender and we quote exactly that geometry, with the standard named. Taller cells and closer welds cost more per square metre; the structure decides whether you need them.
Sections ship folded flat and palletised, so geocell packs well: our loading tables put palletised 50-400 geocell at roughly 43,000 m² per 40'HQ. Taller cells and thicker walls take more space per square metre. We run the container plan from the real panel dimensions before quoting, so the landed per-m² price is a fact, not a hope.
The mill certifies each batch on wall thickness, tensile yield and weld strength against the named standard. Our pre-shipment inspection measures cell height, weld spacing, wall thickness and perforation against your spec, counts pallets, and photographs it all. Weld strength is pulled on your batch. A third-party lab test is arranged on request. Everything reaches you before the balance payment.
