Blown film · virgin resin
Extruded as a rising bubble — even thickness, tight quality control, the process behind membrane that passes GRI-GM13 and long OIT numbers. This is what a landfill or tailings engineer is assuming.
Calendered · virgin resin
Rolled between calenders — a fine sheet for ponds and canals at a friendlier price. Passes GB/T when the resin is virgin. Ask for the production method; an honest mill answers instantly.
Recycled resin
Reclaimed polymer, often calendered, dyed a confident black. Two-thirds the price of the GM13 build — and it ages in the sun in seasons, not decades. It never announces itself; a lab test finds it.

Grades & Specifications
Five tables — smooth and textured HDPE to GRI-GM13 (ASTM methods), smooth HDPE to GB/T 17643-2011 GH-2S, and LLDPE / LDPE to GB/T 17643 — with density, tensile, tear, puncture, stress-crack, carbon black and OIT for every thickness from 0.3 to 3.0 mm. GM13 is what a landfill or tailings engineer is assuming when the drawing says "HDPE liner"; GB/T is the honest grade for ponds, reservoirs and canals.
Every quote names the standard and thickness from these tables; every batch ships with the mill certificate plus the OIT and carbon-black dispersion sheet — the two tests that expose recycled resin. Rolls up to 7 m wide; the 40'HQ loading plan is run before we quote.

Min. ave. = minimum average value. MD = machine direction, CD = cross direction. GM13 values are the GSI specification the mill certifies to; GB/T values are the national-standard minimums (≥) or maximums (≤). OIT — the mill selects standard (D8117) or high-pressure (D5885) OIT to prove antioxidant content. We run OIT and carbon-black dispersion on your batch before the balance payment.
The Surface Question
A smooth liner on a steep slope is a slide: the soil cover, the protection geotextile, sometimes the whole lining sandwich creeps downhill. Texturing — a rough spray-on surface — locks friction into the interface. The rule of thumb we quote by: floors smooth, slopes textured on the soil side, aggressive slopes double-textured.
The cost logic is mercifully simple: texturing adds roughly $0.20/m² per side at current levels, and double-texturing behaves like adding about half a millimetre of material. Cheaper than re-laying a slipped slope — we've seen that invoice.
The Seam Is The Weak Point
Liners don't leak in the middle of the sheet — they leak at seams. Chinese mills roll HDPE up to 7 m wide, and every extra metre of width is metres of field weld you never have to make or test. On a hectare of pond, 7 m rolls versus 5.8 m rolls remove kilometres of seam over the project's life.
The seams you do make need a proper wedge welder — dual hot wedges, an air test channel down the middle, and spare parts on site. We ship the welder and its spares in the same container as the liner, because a crew waiting on a heating element burns money faster than any material saving.

Our standard membrane inspection: thickness micrometering across the roll (thin spots hide at the edges), density and melt-flow checks against the resin certificate, and the decisive one — an OIT oxidative induction test that separates virgin resin from recycled in a single lab afternoon. For GM13 tenders we align the full test battery (tensile, tear, puncture, stress-crack, carbon black content and dispersion) to what your engineer's checklist actually requires.

Straight Answers
By application: fish and shrimp ponds run 0.5–0.75 mm, irrigation reservoirs 0.75–1.0 mm, landfills and tailings 1.5–2.5 mm with texturing on slopes, biogas 1.0–1.5 mm. If a seller quotes thickness without asking what the pond holds and how steep the slopes are, they're quoting a number, not a liner.
GRI-GM13 is the international benchmark — it pins down OIT (antioxidant life), stress-crack resistance, carbon black content and dispersion, batch by batch. GB/T is the Chinese national standard, honest and adequate for ponds and canals at virgin resin. The danger isn't GB/T — it's recycled resin sold as either. That's what the OIT test catches.
You can't by eye — recycled sheet is dyed black and looks factory-fresh. A lab OIT test settles it in an afternoon: virgin GM13 resin holds out past 100 minutes standard OIT; recycled collapses early. We commission the test on your actual batch and send the sheet before you pay the balance.
