Why The Cheapest Pump Costs The Most
Two pumps with identical curves — same flow, same head, same motor — can be priced 60% apart. The difference isn't the hydraulics. It's the metal touching your fluid: plain grey cast iron versus stainless, duplex, high-chrome or a non-metallic lining. A supplier hits a low price by quoting the cheapest casing and hoping your fluid is friendly.

The Number-One Failure Point
The mechanical seal is the cheapest part and the first to go, and a cost-down build always cheapens it first. Carbon-ceramic is fine on clean water and useless on grit; silicon-carbide faces handle abrasives; the elastomer (Viton, EPDM, PTFE) has to survive your specific chemical. For acids, solvents or zero-leak duties, a seal-less magnetic-drive pump removes the failure point entirely.
We specify the seal to the fluid and the temperature — and quote a spare seal kit with the pump, because the one you can't get in three weeks is the one that fails.
The True Cost
A pump's price is mostly its wetted material. A clean-water cast-iron pump and the same hydraulics in duplex or high-chrome can sit far apart — which is exactly why getting the material right matters before you compare quotes. We line up like-for-like so you're not comparing a cast-iron pump to a stainless one and thinking one supplier is cheaper.
Valves, fittings and a spare seal kit are quoted in the same shipment so nothing is "extra" at the dock.

Pumps carry the motor's conformity mark for your market — CE for Europe, EAC (TR EAEU) for the EAEU/CIS region — plus the motor's efficiency class (IE2/IE3) where it's mandated. We also collect the material certificates and the hydraulic test curve, so what's on paper is what's in the crate.
Then we prepare the export and customs documents so it clears at your destination without a hold.

Five things size it correctly: flow rate (Q), head (H), available NPSH, the fluid (and its concentration/temperature), and any solids. With those we pick the pump type, the wetted material and the seal — and avoid overpaying for an oversized motor.
Almost always the wetted material. Plain cast iron is cheap; SS316 can add 60–120%, and duplex, high-chrome or PTFE-lined builds more again. A low quote often means the cheapest casing — fine for clean water, a fast failure on anything corrosive or abrasive. We compare like-for-like material.
